The Ao Dai Art Program "Fragrance of Vietnam" took place on the evening of April 13 in Hanoi.
The program is organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, to celebrate the 115th anniversary of International Women's Day (March 8, 1910 - March 8, 2025); 1985th anniversary of the Hai Ba Trung uprising, towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); continuing the success of "Ao Dai Week" from 2019 to present.
Ms. Ngo Phuong Ly, wife of General Secretary To Lam; Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh; and 250 delegates, including female members of the Party Central Committee, leaders of ministries, branches, central and Hanoi city organizations; international guests; spouses of Ambassadors attended the program.
In her opening speech, President of the Vietnam Women's Union Nguyen Thi Tuyen affirmed that in the minds of Vietnamese people and in the eyes of international friends, Ao Dai has long been considered a symbol of Vietnamese culture and of Vietnamese women.
Ao Dai contains a rich history, aesthetic concepts, national consciousness and spirit. In the flow of history, Ao Dai has become an endless source of inspiration for theater, painting, poetry, music and has truly become a typical cultural product, a symbol of the quintessence of Vietnamese culture, containing the beauty of Vietnamese women, carrying the soul of the Vietnamese people.
Implementing Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW of the Party Central Committee (11th tenure) on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable development of the country; at the same time, aiming to promote and spread the special values of Ao Dai - a symbol of Vietnamese culture, since 2019, the Vietnam Women's Union has initiated and coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize events with the theme "Ao Dai - Vietnamese Cultural Heritage" with the goal of making Ao Dai a national intangible cultural heritage and proposing the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to recognize Ao Dai as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Besides legal conditions, one of the criteria that UNESCO highly appreciates is the vitality of heritage in the community...
Continuing the journey to bring the values of Ao Dai to become a World Cultural Heritage, the Ao Dai Art program "Fragrance of Vietnam" is a combination of unique singing, dancing and music performances that vividly depict the beauty of Ao Dai and the aspirations of Vietnamese women to reach high and far in the new era.
The program aims to contribute to honoring the value of Ao Dai in life, culture and society, while at the same time arousing love, pride and responsibility to preserve and promote the value of Ao Dai heritage and promote the culture, country and people of Vietnam in general, and Vietnamese women in particular, to become closer to many domestic and international friends.
At the program, Ao Dai collections were performed by beauty queens, models, artists, singers, professional dancers and female students from the Vietnam Women's Academy in 3 chapters: "Quintessence of Vietnamese Ao Dai," "A Circle of Vietnam," "Fragrance and Beauty of Vietnam."
With chapter 1 - The Quintessence of Vietnamese Ao Dai, Ao Dai is expressed through 5 themes with strong humanism, reflecting the depth of emotions and noble qualities of women through the seasons of the year and the levels of love: Spring - Brilliant beginning; Summer - Strong and enduring; Autumn - Quiet and profound; Winter - Brave and delicate; Love Dance - Romantic and passionate.
Chapter 2 - A Tour of Vietnam, introducing creative Heritage Ao Dai collections by more than 40 mature designers through the program "Starting a Business from Ao Dai."
Each design is a vivid slice of culture, leading viewers through a journey of the three regions of North-Central-South, where local identity is honored with a fashion language that is deeply Vietnamese.
The journey ended in the heart of the Fatherland - the capital Hanoi, where tradition and modernity intersect, marking the new look of Vietnamese Ao Dai - elegant, brave and full of aspiration.
Fragrance of Vietnam - Chapter 3 is the launch of the collection "Ao Dai with the Logo of the Vietnam Women's Union."
Inspired by the dove symbol in the Vietnam Women's Union's logo, representing peace, freedom and aspiration to reach far, the stylized image of dove wings appearing in the designs of the collection created by Designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam brings a new perspective on the connection between tradition and the spirit of modern women, not only honoring the beauty of Ao Dai but also spreading a meaningful message about the rise and flight of Vietnamese women in the journey to master the future, integrate and shine globally.
Linked to the three chapters are clips of inspirational women characters, conveying messages based on the program's themes.
The Ao Dai collections presented at the program are all works bearing the imprint of national culture, inspired by the treasure trove of Vietnamese cultural heritage, the natural landscapes of the three regions, and the spirit of international cultural exchange, expressing the harmonious beauty between tradition and modernity, contributing to gradually bringing the values of Vietnamese Ao Dai to become World Cultural Heritage, accompanying the image of Vietnamese women on the journey of sustainable development and reaching out in the new era./.
