On the morning of January 6 at the National Assembly House, under the chairmanship of Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, the National Assembly Standing Committee (NASC) opened its 41st session - the first session of the NASC in 2025.

In his opening speech, the National Assembly Chairman said that the 41st regular session took place in an atmosphere of celebrating the Party and Spring with many activities to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam and prepare for the traditional Tet At Ty. At the same time, the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels had many activities to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the first general election to elect the Vietnamese National Assembly.

In the atmosphere of the whole country rejoicing over the achievements and results in socio-economic development, ensuring national defense, security, and building the political system in 2024, we enter 2025 with a new spirit and the common joy of the entire Party, people, and army.

"In particular, the National Assembly has just successfully organized the third Dien Hong tournament; the Vietnamese football team won the ASEAN Cup 2024 in Thailand. This is the joy and excitement of the new year, the belief for 2025" - the National Assembly Chairman emphasized.

At this session, which will last 1.5 days, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly will consider many important contents such as giving opinions on explaining, accepting and revising 4 draft laws: Law on Digital Technology Industry; Law on Employment (amended); Law on amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Advertising; Law on amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Technical Standards and Regulations.

Consider and approve two resolutions of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly: Joint Resolution detailing the organization of meetings with voters between National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies; Resolution of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly regulating the implementation of democracy within the agencies of the National Assembly, agencies under the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, and agencies of People's Councils at all levels.

The Standing Committee of the National Assembly will also review the report on the National Assembly's petition work in December 2024; give opinions on the National Assembly's thematic supervision outline on "Implementation of policies and laws on environmental protection since the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 took effect"; and give opinions on the preparation for the 9th Extraordinary Session of the 15th National Assembly.

Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man noted that the Standing Committee of the National Assembly should promote the spirit of the recent 8th Session; closely follow the spirit of innovation in legislative thinking, only regulate contents under the authority of the National Assembly, not legalize practical issues that are changing but assign the Government, ministries, branches, and localities to regulate to ensure the stability of the law and flexibility, timely adjustment and supplementation when necessary...

Emphasizing that the workload in 2025 is very large; in the immediate future, in the first quarter of 2025, focus on organizing an extraordinary session at the end of February 2025 for the National Assembly to consider amending and promulgating laws and resolutions to implement the policy of rearranging and streamlining the apparatus and deciding on a number of other important and urgent contents within its authority.

Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man said that these contents are related to the amendment of the Law on Promulgation of Legal Documents, the Law on Organization of the National Assembly (amended), the Law on Organization of the Government (amended), the Law on Organization of Local Government (amended) and nearly 300 laws related to specialized fields and organizations. The Ministry of Justice has also summarized that there are about 4,922 decrees and circulars related to the adjustment and arrangement of the administrative apparatus.

"This is a huge amount of work. The Standing Committee of the National Assembly will not only hold this 41st session but may have many more sessions to prepare for the extraordinary session," said Mr. Tran Thanh Man.
