The pig slaughtering (soil) festival is the result of the annual movement "Save two thousand dong per day for education" launched by Nam Po District Party Committee (Dien Bien province) from November 21, 2022.

The movement was launched with the aim of creating funds to support the construction of school facilities and teachers and students in difficult circumstances in the area.

After nearly 2 years of implementation, the movement has attracted a large number of cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers, soldiers of the armed forces and people in the district to actively participate and respond with thousands of piggy banks.

All proceeds from the movement are received and used by the District Association for the Promotion of Education to support schools, teachers and students in difficult circumstances.

The savings movement "Two thousand dong per day for education" of Nam Po district was launched from November 21, 2022 and the movement is annually summarized after the opening day of the new school year (September 5). 2024 is the second year that Nam Po district organizes the Pig Slaughter Festival and continues to launch the movement.

Speaking at the pig slaughter festival, Mr. Le Khanh Hoa - Secretary of Nam Po District Party Committee - the initiator of this movement said that although this is not a new model, after nearly 2 years of being launched, the movement has been highly effective and sustainable.

Every year, after the opening day of the new school year, we will hold a pig slaughtering festival, summarize the collected money and give gifts to cadres, teachers, workers and employees in difficult circumstances and poor students who have overcome difficulties.

The money from the savings fund is also used appropriately to supplement, improve and enhance the quality of facilities of schools in the district.

"Regardless of the form, the savings still have the same purpose of contributing to educating the spirit of thrift and mutual love; enhancing the responsibility of all levels and sectors and each cadre and party member towards the education sector. Thereby contributing to the implementation of the goal of social security and socialization of education" - Mr. Le Khanh Hoa added.

The first pig slaughter festival (September 5, 2023) on the opening day of the 2023-2024 school year - after 10 months of launching, the whole district collected nearly 1.4 billion VND.

After exactly one year, the mountainous border district of Nam Po is once again holding a "Pig Slaughter Festival" to welcome the new school year 2024-2025. The festival will end after continuing to slaughter pigs at 18 locations across the district on the morning of September 5. The results will be announced immediately after the opening ceremony ends.
