Provincial National Assembly Delegation: Collecting comments on the draft Law on Organization of People's Courts (amended)

On October 11, the National Assembly Delegation of the province held a conference to collect comments on the draft Law on Organization of People's Courts (amended), expected to be submitted to the National Assembly for comments at the 6th session of the 15th National Assembly. Comrade Dang Thi My Huong, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of the province chaired the conference.

The draft Law on Organization of People's Courts (amended) consists of 9 chapters and 154 articles, of which 54 new articles are added, 93 articles are amended, and 7 articles are kept unchanged. Compared to the 2014 Law on Organization of People's Courts, the draft law has reduced 2 chapters and increased 57 articles. The draft law has closely followed the purpose, guiding viewpoints and specified 6 groups of policies approved by the National Assembly in Resolution No. 89 dated June 2, 2023.

The amendment of the Law on Organization of People's Courts aims to continue to perfect the organizational structure, improve the quality, effectiveness, efficiency and prestige of the People's Courts; build a professional, modern, fair, strict and honest court system; fulfill the responsibility of protecting justice, protecting human rights, citizens' rights, protecting the interests of the State, protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of organizations and individuals.

At the conference, delegates basically agreed with the content of the draft law and contributed some opinions such as: proposing to keep the names of the Court units as they are currently; needing to review the regulations in the direction that the court is not obliged to collect evidence; needing to set out the responsibility of the court in guiding and supporting the collection of evidence to protect vulnerable subjects; keeping the term of office of judges as currently regulated; agreeing to establish specialized courts...

On behalf of the National Assembly Delegation, the Deputy Head of the Provincial Delegation highly appreciated the delegates' opinions, thereby contributing to perfecting and improving the quality of the draft Law on Organization of People's Courts. The opinions and recommendations at the conference will be compiled and perfected by the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Delegation to submit to the National Assembly at the upcoming 6th Session.
