Hanoi FC started V-League 2023 quite impressively when they were unbeaten after the first 6 matches, including 4 wins.
Hanoi FC (white) is declining in V-League 2023
It was thought that this would be the season where the capital team would easily dominate the championship, something they have done 6 times in the past.
But the turning point happened from round 7 of V-League 2023 when they suffered a heavy 1-3 defeat at Binh Dinh Stadium.
After that unforgettable result, the most successful football team in Vietnam had more than a month to train their troops and regain their spirit.
However, all that Hanoi FC left behind was disappointment.
Specifically, after a long break to prepare for SEA Games 32, the purple team has 3 matches with opponents that are rated much lower: Da Nang, Binh Duong and HAGL.
But coach Bandovic and his team only got 2 points in this series of matches. Notably, 2 out of 3 teams above are in the lowest positions of the rankings.
In the most recent match against HAGL on May 31, Hanoi FC lost 0-1 at Pleiku Stadium.
Meanwhile, the other two teams in the top 3, Hanoi Police (CAHN) and Thanh Hoa, are making amazing progress and creating a large gap with Hanoi.
Specifically, since SEA Games 32, CAHN has 7 points after 3 matches. Meanwhile, Thanh Hoa has 4 points and 1 match left to play.
Currently, the Police team is 2 points ahead of Hanoi FC, while Thanh Hoa has 5 points and has played one less match.
The reason for the decline of the capital team is that they have been missing many key players recently.
Notable cases include striker Nguyen Van Quyet (suspended for 8 matches) and Hung Dung whose health is not yet guaranteed.
If they cannot stand up soon, the home team at Hang Day Stadium will find it difficult to compete for the championship with opponents like CAHN or Thanh Hoa.
In particular, both teams are having convincing performances along with stable form.
