GĐXH – Believing in advertisements that blood filtration can remove blood fat and bad blood, helping to prevent stroke, many people are willing to spend a lot of money to do it. However, experts warn that there are no recommendations for preventive blood filtration, and even abusing this method has many potential risks of causing harm.
Many advertisements about the effects of blood filtration in preventing many diseases
Recently, on social networks, there have been many articles advertising blood filtration services to remove bad blood, blood fat, and prevent stroke . Accordingly, just searching for the phrase "blood fat filtration" or "blood filtration to prevent stroke" will give many results with "winged" advertisements about the miraculous effects of this method.
Advertisements about the benefits of blood fat filtering methods are spreading on the internet. Photo FB.
Such as "filtering bad blood, returning clean blood; after only 2 hours of implementation, rescuing the body from dangerous complications of high blood fat; directly removing fat in the blood (bad cholesterol), eliminating inflammatory substances and waste in the blood" and then "blood filtration helps prevent blood clots and plaque in the blood vessels; preventing stroke, cerebrovascular accident, myocardial infarction...".
It is these attractive advertisements that have made many people willing to spend a lot of money to have dialysis performed in the hope of achieving the above benefits.
From a professional perspective, many medical experts have spoken out on this issue.
There are no recommendations for prophylactic dialysis.
Faced with the situation where many facilities believe that blood filtration not only eliminates blood fat but also eliminates bad blood to prevent stroke, atherosclerosis, diabetes, fatty liver... sharing on his personal page, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Lan Hieu, Director of Hanoi Medical University Hospital emphasized: " If it only takes 2-3 hours with a cost of less than ten million to prevent stroke, and then eliminate blood fat, diabetes... then a cardiologist like me would probably be unemployed ".
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Lan Hieu, a truly effective method will be included in the guidelines of professional associations, but up to now there have been no recommendations for preventive dialysis.
Dialysis is indicated when treatment is needed, that is, when a real disease has been diagnosed. This is a very effective method to save the lives of many patients such as kidney failure, heart failure, severe infections, acute pancreatitis.
" If you go abroad to detoxify your body, you should also ask whether the host country will cover insurance for this preventive method. The answer is definitely no. So, do not waste money and effort on performing an "invasive" procedure whose effectiveness has not been clearly proven ," the Director of Hanoi Medical University Hospital recommends.
Be careful "lose money, get sick"
Also sharing about this issue, Associate Professor, Dr. Do Gia Tuyen, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine, Hanoi Medical University said that currently, in Vietnam, there are no guidelines and indications for blood lipid filtration to treat or prevent stroke.
Current blood lipid filtration techniques are only indicated and applied in cases of acute pancreatitis accompanied by a high triglyceride blood lipid index. For normal people, high blood lipid index but no clinical manifestations do not require blood filtration.
Currently, in Vietnam, there are no guidelines or indications for blood lipid filtration to treat or prevent stroke. Illustrative photo.
" Blood filtration to prevent stroke as advertised or advised by some medical facilities is unreasonable and does not have enough scientific basis. Therefore, people need to be careful, should not believe in advertisements or abuse blood fat filtration as it is very dangerous, " Associate Professor, Dr. Do Gia Tuyen shared.
This expert analyzed that abusing dialysis is very dangerous and can even lead to complications that threaten the patient's life due to the risk of complications related to dialysis such as: dizziness, headache, nausea and vomiting, low blood pressure, chest pain, back pain, cramps, fever, allergic reactions to the filter wire, anaphylactic shock, blood loss due to bleeding, arrhythmia and cardiac arrest, bleeding due to the use of anticoagulants, cerebrovascular accidents during and after dialysis, infections of the blood vessel entrance, etc.
With plasma exchange or filtration techniques, patients are also at risk of allergic reactions or even anaphylactic shock to the plasma solution or albumin infused during the blood filtration process.
Furthermore, many experts have emphasized that blood filtration in general and blood lipid filtration in particular are specialized treatment techniques that require modern equipment, highly specialized medical staff, and proper training, and are performed in large hospitals or specialized hospitals with artificial kidney units and emergency resuscitation departments.
These are important factors to ensure patient safety. Therefore, patients should not perform the procedure at a clinic or regular medical facility to avoid "losing money and getting sick".
