The Independent Newspaper - a prestigious Russian political and current affairs analysis website - has just published an article titled "Vietnam - A special destination for President Vladimir Putin" by author and international news analyst Grigory Trofimchuk.

According to a VNA correspondent in Moscow, the article emphasized that President Putin's state visit to Vietnam on June 19-20 at the invitation of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong has special significance.

The visit is highly symbolic as it takes place on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the Fundamental Principles of Friendly Relations between the Russian Federation and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (June 16, 1994 - June 16, 2024), laying the foundation and legal basis for relations in a new stage of development.

Expert Trofimchuk pointed out that the former Soviet Union, the Russian Federation today and Vietnam adhere to consistent principles of broad cooperation and partnership. Vietnam stands out among Russia's friendly partners, and the good cooperative relations between the two countries have been demonstrated in the past and present.

Regarding economic and trade relations, according to the article, the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Vietnam signed in 2015 is a reliable guarantee for the principle of free cooperation between countries.

As a comprehensive strategic partner of the Russian Federation, Vietnam holds an important position in Russia’s “pivot to the East” policy. In turn, closer coordination between the two countries will contribute to the stable development of the important international economic region of Southeast Asia.

Author Trofimchuk assessed that economic, trade and investment relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation still have much potential for development, with energy being a key area of cooperation.

Cultural and educational exchanges have also been expanded, and cooperation between localities of the two countries has become increasingly vibrant, with the Vietnamese community in the Russian Federation as a bridge.

At the end of the article, author Trofimchuk affirmed that towards another important event, the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1950-2025), Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Vietnam will strengthen the momentum to further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership./.
