During a meeting with US President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the 31st Asia -Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Lima, Peru, Xi Jinping also said that the “One China” principle and the three China-US joint communiques are the political foundation of bilateral relations.
The leader affirmed that these are the most important safety barriers for China-US relations, noting that it is important not to cross red lines and supreme principles.
According to President Xi Jinping, conflicts and differences between two major countries like China and the United States are inevitable, but one side must not undermine the core interests of the other, let alone seek conflict or confrontation.
In a related development, on the same day, November 16, White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that President Biden and President Xi Jinping agreed that humans, not artificial intelligence (AI), should make decisions about the use of nuclear weapons.
This is the first time the two countries have issued such a statement.
