Doc Lap is the name of the street connecting the intersection in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Hoang Van Thu Street. From Doc Lap Street, visitors can fully admire Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Ba Dinh Square, and the National Assembly building.
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, people and tourists flocked to Doc Lap Street in front of Ba Dinh Square to take photos.
This area is always a favorite photo spot for tourists, but before each major national holiday, the number of people flocking here is even greater.
From early morning, many young people dressed in ao dai and red flag shirts with yellow stars came to check-in.
Waking up at 4am to prepare her outfit and makeup, Kieu Linh (Cau Giay District, Hanoi) shared that this year's April 30th holiday is a "once in 50 years" event. However, she did not have the opportunity to go to Ho Chi Minh City to directly experience the atmosphere of the day of total victory.
"I have passed by Doc Lap Street and Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum many times, but this is the first time I have come here to take photos. Today, not only me, but many young tourists also came here with the desire to capture beautiful moments to celebrate Liberation Day.
The check-in corner that required the longest wait was the corner with the sign of Doc Lap Street. My friends and I had to wait about 40 minutes to take our turn to take pictures," Kieu Linh shared.
Meanwhile, Ms. Thao Trang's family (Dong Anh district, Hanoi) came together at Doc Lap street at 5am to wait to watch the flag-raising ceremony at Uncle Ho's mausoleum. The special member of the family is a 4-year-old child.
Our generation today is able to live in peace, freedom and happiness thanks to the great contributions of our ancestors - those who fell to protect the nation's independence."
Through big holidays like this, I want my children to understand more about the history of the nation and the meaning of the holiday. In addition to Uncle Ho's mausoleum and Ba Dinh Square, today my family also took my children to visit the Vietnam Military History Museum," Trang confided.
