Phung Quang Trung said that he has been working in photo restoration for many years. Trung has participated in many free photo restoration activities for people who lost loved ones during the Covid-19 pandemic, or for heroic martyrs... "When I read the news about Lang Nu, I was moved to tears, I was so heartbroken by the losses of the people. Therefore, I decided to do a free photo restoration project, and then bring it to the people of Lang Nu," Trung said.

The memory he remembers most is taking photos of two boys who lost their parents in Lang Nu. “When I posted the project information online, Phuc’s aunt (15 years old) immediately asked him to call me. We video chatted for a long time. Phuc confided that he was currently in Lang Nu, while his 7-year-old brother was still in the hospital in Hanoi. He was sad because he lost his parents, so he wanted to have a photo for the whole family to reunite,” Trung said.
Listening to the child's story, Trung stayed awake all night. At 5am the next morning, the young man got up and worked for several hours before stopping. While working, Trung listened to songs about family, his heart filled with indescribable emotion.
“When I posted it, many people said they cried because they were so moved. This photo was very difficult to make because there were four people. I had to pick out every detail to make the images look real,” Trung continued.
The two orphan boys were reunited with their parents in a very touching photo. Phuc immediately texted Trung to express his deep gratitude. Trung felt happy to have helped the children return to the loving arms of their parents.

For many years, Trung has been able to spread many beautiful stories to everyone. “However, it cannot compensate for the loss and pain of the people. However, these commemorative photos will help the deceased to be at peace and help the living have a little more comfort, as a spiritual connection between the past and the present,” Trung shared.
Trung’s project to restore old photos quickly attracted the attention of the online community. Trung said he received many calls from people in Lang Nu asking him to help them restore photos. Many people also sent their deep thanks to this young man for bringing hope and motivation to those who have suffered great loss.

Trung believes that this job not only requires high professional skills but also meticulousness. Trung often has to do it over and over again to ensure that the final image is not only realistic but also brings a feeling of closeness and warmth to the viewer.
“Each photo is a story, a very unique emotion. I always try my best to recreate that,”
Recently, Trung also took photos for a 12th grade student who lost a relative in Lang Nu. “When she woke up, she knew she had lost her mother. In the photos she sent, I saw that she was very sad in every one. Through this recreated photo, I hope it will be a little bit of spirit for her to try to move forward strongly. This is also her memory of having a complete photo with both her father and mother by her side," Trung said.
Hoang Xuan Phuc (15 years old), living in Lang Nu village, Lao Cai province, said that the terrible flash flood buried his parents, Hoang Van Tuan and Hoang Thi Quyen, and killed them. “My family also had a photo of the whole family, but after the flood, it was lost. The photo that Trung gave me is very beautiful. When looking at the photo, my two siblings can see their parents smiling, which helps ease the longing,” Phuc said.
Nguyen Van Hanh (18 years old), living in the same village, shared that during the flash flood on September 10, Hanh's house had only the mother and son living together. Hanh's father passed away last year. Unexpectedly, when he woke up after the flood, Hanh became an orphan. "I wanted to ask Trung to help me take a photo of me and my parents as a souvenir. And when I received the photo, I was very touched. I thank Trung very much," Hanh said.
