Hai Phong Port inspects the progress of the project to build new Azimuth tugboats, enhancing the exploitation capacity at Lach Huyen deep-water port

On the side of Hai Phong Port Transport and Towing Joint Stock Company (a member unit of Hai Phong Port, the project investor), there were Mr. Nguyen Van Dung - Chairman of the Board of Directors; Mr. Hoang Dinh Quang - Member of the Board of Directors, Director of the Company and the Board of Directors, and functional departments.

At the meeting, the representative of the EPC general contractor - Song Thu Shipbuilding Corporation reported: after 9 months from the keel laying date, the Azimuth TUGTRANCO 01 tugboat has completed the hull, the Caterpillar main engine and generator have been installed in the engine room, the Schottel propeller is being transported to Vietnam and is expected to be installed in September 2025, the ship is expected to be launched at the end of October 2025. The contractor is committed to focusing all resources to complete the project on schedule according to the signed contract and strive to hand over the ship to the Investor before December 19, 2025, on the occasion of the National Resistance Day December 19 and the founding day of the Vietnam People's Army December 22.

The Azimuth TUGTRANCO 01 tugboat project is designed according to national technical regulations on classification and construction of steel-hulled seagoing ships, fully meeting marine pollution prevention systems and national technical regulations on ship safety equipment. The ship has a maximum length of 31.87 meters, a maximum width of 11.60 meters, a side height of 5.00 meters, and a main engine capacity of 2 x 1,864 KW (equivalent to 5,000 HP). The ship is capable of operating in inland waters, supporting large tonnage ships to dock and leave ports, towing vehicles with limited maneuverability, incidents, newly built vehicles of shipyards; on-call rescue, participating in fire fighting and rescue in coastal areas and deep-water ports.

The investment in building a new Azimuth tugboat with a capacity of 5,000 HP is a strategic step of Hai Phong Port Tugboat and Transport Joint Stock Company and Hai Phong Port to continuously improve competitiveness, meet the increasing demands of the market, especially in the Lach Huyen deep-water port area. Currently, Hai Phong Port Tugboat and Transport Joint Stock Company is directly managing and operating a fleet of 11 vessels with a total capacity of over 17,000 HP, of which the largest vessel is 4,600 HP. This project is the beginning of a plan to develop a modern and professional tugboat fleet, contributing to affirming the position and brand of Hai Phong Port and Hai Phong Port Tugboat and Transport Joint Stock Company in the field of port exploitation and maritime services.
