TPO - More than 150 houses on Hoang Huu Nam Street (Thu Duc City) were demolished to widen the road from 7m to 30m to increase connectivity and reduce traffic accidents.
Hoang Huu Nam Street (Thu Duc City) was cleared to widen the road from 7m to 30m. |
Since 2015, Ho Chi Minh City has implemented the project to expand Hoang Huu Nam Street - one of the main roads connecting to the new Eastern Bus Station. The upgraded road is 1.7 km long, from the bus station to the Hanoi Highway intersection, with a total investment of 402 billion VND. |
The project had to be suspended since 2019 due to land acquisition issues and the impact of the pandemic. After restarting in May 2023, the project has now reached more than 60% completion because compensation and site clearance have not been completed. |
In recent days, many houses along Hoang Huu Nam Street have been demolished by residents and moved further back, awaiting the implementation of the road expansion project. |
Hoang Huu Nam Street is one of the routes connecting to the new Eastern Bus Station. The road surface is only about 7m wide, and there is no median strip, so traffic accidents are very likely to occur. |
A representative of the Thu Duc City Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor) said that to implement the Hoang Huu Nam Street project, it is necessary to reclaim more than 47,550m2 of land from 154 households. |
Many consecutive houses have been demolished, set back 5-7 m, and completed repairs after handover. |
Ms. Bach Thi Thanh Xuan (Long Binh Ward, Thu Duc City) shared: "For many years, this road has been narrow, degraded and dangerous because of many containers. When handing over the land, I just hope to soon complete the expansion, so that the road will be more spacious." |
After receiving compensation, many families proactively hired workers to dismantle the items subject to clearance. |
Currently, the contractor has mobilized workers and machinery to construct some sections with available ground. |
Road No. 13 intersecting with Hoang Huu Nam, about 400 m long, has been upgraded to help vehicles easily enter and exit the new Mien Dong station. According to the investor, if the remaining households are cleared soon, the entire project will be completed by April 30, 2025. |
Construction is currently focused on D400 and No. 13 roads (part of the Hoang Huu Nam road expansion project). These two routes are completing some drainage items, sidewalk paving, and signs. |
