On January 14, the Hanoi Party Committee's Steering Committee on anti-corruption and anti-negativity met to assess the situation and results of activities in 2024, and deploy key directions and tasks in 2025.

Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Head of the Steering Committee of the City Party Committee, said that since the beginning of 2024, the work of preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negativity has been directed and implemented methodically and synchronously by the City Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, and the Steering Committee of the City Party Committee, in conjunction with comprehensively promoting the work of Party building and rectification and the political system.

Party committees, party organizations, agencies and units have strictly implemented the Central Steering Committee's direction mechanism in coordinating the detection and handling of corruption and negativity; 89 cases with signs of crime have been transferred to the investigation agency for handling in accordance with the law.

Investigation, prosecution and trial work continued to be promoted, promptly investigating and strictly handling many serious and complicated corruption and negative cases that received public attention.

The city's two-level prosecution agencies have handled 316 cases/661 defendants; prosecuted 219 cases/500 defendants; and tried 189 cases/482 defendants at first instance for corruption and negative crimes.

For 54 cases and incidents under monitoring and direction, the City Party Committee's Steering Committee agreed with the proposal of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee's Steering Committee to end the direction and resolve 46 cases because the settlement has been completed according to the provisions of law or the city's jurisdiction to resolve has expired.

The City Party Committee's Steering Committee continues to monitor and direct 6 cases and incidents; the Party Committees of judicial agencies continue to direct the city's prosecution agencies to resolve 1 case.

The City Party Committee's Steering Committee agreed with the proposal of the city's prosecution agencies, agreeing to monitor and direct the case of "Fraudulent appropriation of property, money laundering, failure to report crimes" occurring in Cau Giay district.

Regarding the key tasks in 2025, the Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee noted that he would continue to direct the effective implementation of the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws on preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negativity.

The City Party Committee's Steering Committee also determined to focus on leading and directing the work of detecting and handling corruption, waste, and negativity; directing the strengthening of inspection, supervision, and examination of areas prone to corruption, waste, and negativity, and of prominent, pressing issues of public concern.

The Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee requested relevant units to speed up the progress of handling cases, investigating, prosecuting, and trying corruption and negative cases under the supervision and direction of the Central Steering Committee and the City Party Committee's Steering Committee.
