On November 6, the Ministry of National Defense issued Official Dispatch 4267/BQP-TM on the selection and calling of citizens to join the army in 2024.

Ministry of National Defense guides the selection and call of female citizens for military service in 2024

Specifically, in addition to the general conditions and standards as for the selection and calling of male citizens for military service, female citizens must have a voluntary application to serve in the Army, confirmed by a family representative and the People's Committee of the commune where they permanently reside, and meet a number of the following specific conditions and standards:

(1) Age: From 18 to 25 years old; citizens who have graduated from college or university are from 27 years old; unmarried and have no children.

(2) Health: Meet health standards of type 1, 2 according to regulations in Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP; height is from 1.60m or more, balanced appearance, fresh appearance.

(3) Technical expertise: Graduated from intermediate level training or higher; priority is given to citizens who have graduated from university or college with training in a field suitable for the needs of the Army. In case of talent, it will be implemented according to separate regulations of the Ministry of National Defense.

(4) Units assigned with the quota of recruiting female citizens to join the army are recruited (recruited individually) in localities nationwide and are included in the 2024 recruitment quota of the locality and unit; coordinate and hand over to the Hanoi Capital Command (for units in the North), the Military Region 7 Command (for units in the South) for strict training, ensuring on time and absolute safety.

Heads of agencies and units under the Ministry assigned with the quota for recruiting female citizens shall direct their agencies and units to closely coordinate with localities to organize the selection of female citizens for military service, ensuring strict compliance with prescribed conditions and standards, and shall be responsible to the Minister of National Defense for the quality of female citizens enlisted in the unit.

In addition, to implement the military recruitment work in 2024 to ensure sufficient quantity, good quality, in accordance with the Law on Military Service 2015 and current legal documents, based on the results of summarizing 08 years of implementing the Law on Military Service 2015 in conjunction with the results of military recruitment in 2023, the Ministry of National Defense requests localities and requires military units to continue to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the Law on Military Service 2015; Circular 148/2018/TT-BQP regulating the selection and calling of citizens to join the army; documents regulating and guiding the implementation of the Law; Directive 98/CT-BQP dated October 26, 2019 of the Minister of National Defense on strengthening measures, improving the quality of military recruitment work in the new situation and professional guidance documents of the competent agencies of the Ministry of National Defense; Documents regulating disciplinary action and administrative sanctions in the field of Military Service in Decree 37/2022/ND-CP amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Decrees regulating sanctions for administrative violations in the fields of national defense, cryptography; management and protection of national borders, on seas, islands and continental shelf of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
