On May 23, a representative of the Traffic Police Department said that the Minister of Public Security has just issued a decision approving the fourth auction plan for car license plates. The list of license plates will be posted from May 25.

The number of car license plates put up for auction is 339,780. Of which, Hanoi has 60,230 license plates, Ho Chi Minh City has 34,520 license plates, Nghe An and Thanh Hoa each have more than 12,000 license plates, Hai Phong City has 10,720 license plates...

The starting price of a car license plate put up for auction is 40 million; the deposit is equal to this starting price and the step price is 5 million.

As before, car license plate auctions still take place online, with the bidding method being ascending.

The Traffic Police Department said that all qualified Vietnamese organizations and individuals are entitled to participate in the auction of car license plates according to regulations.

Within 15 days from the date of announcement of auction results, the auction winner must pay the entire auction winning amount after deducting the deposit amount into the Ministry of Public Security's specialized collection account. The auction winning amount does not include vehicle registration fees.

Through 3 auctions that took place in nearly 6 months before, the units successfully organized online auctions of more than 15,100 car license plates, with a total auction price of over 2 trillion VND. Of which, 14,062 car license plates that won the auction were paid by customers for a total of nearly 1.4 trillion VND.

Assessing the above success, in the draft Law on Traffic Order and Safety being submitted to the National Assembly, the Ministry of Public Security proposed to auction additional license plates for motorbikes and mopeds.
