Arrested 2 officials of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Thanh Hoa province

On September 18, information from Thanh Hoa Provincial Police said that on the same day, the Investigation Police Agency of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police implemented the decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused, and temporarily detain 2 accused to investigate the act of embezzlement of property.

The arrested defendants include: Le Chi Cuong (54 years old, residing in Dan Ly commune, Trieu Son district, Thanh Hoa), Head of the Department of Social Evils Prevention, Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Thanh Hoa, former Director of Thanh Hoa Drug Rehabilitation Center No. 1; and Do Thi Dung (38 years old, residing in Minh Khoi commune, Nong Cong district, Thanh Hoa), Deputy Head of the General Administration Department of Thanh Hoa Drug Rehabilitation Center No. 1, former chief accountant of Thanh Hoa Drug Rehabilitation Center No. 1.

According to the investigation results of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, from 2017 to 2020, in the process of implementing scientific projects on "applying technical advances to build a food production model in the direction of Vietgap associated with vocational education "; and "building a production line for unburnt bricks from crushed stone, sand, and available materials in the area", Le Chi Cuong, in his position as Director of Thanh Hoa Drug Rehabilitation Center No. 1, directed Do Thi Dung (then chief accountant of Thanh Hoa Drug Rehabilitation Center No. 1) to create fake records and documents on the payment of labor to implement the projects, thereby embezzling a total of more than 907 million VND. The money received and used by Le Chi Cuong for personal expenses was used by Toan.

The case is being further investigated by the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department.
