According to regulations of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the rate of students streaming after junior high school in Ho Chi Minh City in the 2023-2024 school year is 70% of junior high school graduates entering public grade 10. This year, 108,000 students graduated from junior high school in Ho Chi Minh City, but about 96,000 students registered for the public grade 10 entrance exam. With a target of about 77,000 students, about 20,000 students will not attend public schools after the grade 10 entrance exam.
Mr. Le Hoai Nam, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, said that these students and about 12,920 students who did not register for the public 10th grade entrance exam but chose other learning methods did not lack places to study because private schools, international schools, colleges, intermediate schools, and vocational training centers enroll about 50,000 students.
