Visitors to the Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee Base Relic Site in Sa Loun Forest (Sa Lon), Dong Giang highland commune, Ham Thuan Bac district are very impressed by its unique beauty and high educational value on nature protection.
During the resistance war against the US to save the country, the relic site was covered by dense layers of primeval forest, making it impossible for enemy aircraft to detect. Therefore, Binh Thuan's policy when rebuilding the relic site is to preserve that original feature, not going beyond the boundaries prescribed by the Law on Forest Protection and Development.
The entire relic site is over 10 hectares wide with a memorial - exhibition house, memorial, rest hut, internal traffic system... In particular, the entrance gate has many towering forest trees like "soldiers" guarding and protecting the relic site - the headquarters of the resistance war against America to save the country.
Seen from above, the Relic Site is a complex with bright red tiled roofs nestled in the middle of the Sa Lon primeval forest. Up to now, more than half a year since its inauguration (February 2, 2023), the Relic Site has attracted many people inside and outside the province to visit, offer incense and flowers to express gratitude to the heroic martyrs who heroically sacrificed for national independence and to protect the Fatherland.
Most of them, who came here for the first time and even those who have been there many times, were surprised and delighted with the landscape of the relic. "I didn't think that Binh Thuan still had such a beautiful primeval forest. Many tall trees give the relic a unique beauty," said Tu, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City visiting the relic site, in front of the large forest at the entrance to the relic site. Bich Tram, an officer from the Judicial Academy who came to Dong Giang to give gifts to poor ethnic minorities, shared while visiting the relic site: "The most impressive thing was when I got close to the relic site and saw the forest trees stretching across the path as if welcoming me... Tram also said that the reconstruction of the relic site must be a lot of work, otherwise it will affect the forest trees. And she believes that this is an ideal place to return to, not only educating the revolutionary tradition for the younger generation but also teaching them to protect the forest and love nature.
What Tram said reminded us of the times we reported on the activities of the departments and branches... with many questions about why the forest trees were not cut down to make the road straight and wide. Some of them briefly explained: "Because the forest is primeval, cutting down a tree must also ask for the Central Government's opinion..." Because before that, in December 2020, the Prime Minister issued Directive No. 45/CT-TTg on organizing the "Tet tree planting" movement and strengthening the work of protecting and developing forests; and there are many other documents and directives on forest protection.
That answer was also added by the insiders who contributed a lot to the construction of the relic site. Mr. Phan Dinh Cham, Director of Phan Dinh Construction Company - the construction unit of the Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee Base Relic Site, recalled the days of accompanying the Executive Board and workers of the information project. The Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee Relic Site is a key project of Binh Thuan. Unlike other projects, this project requires not only strict compliance with construction standards and design documents, architecture suitable for the landscape, close to nature and traditional culture of resistance, but also compliance with forest protection regulations.
“When the Provincial Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board hands over the site, there are witnesses from the design survey parties. The Forest Management Board marks the painted landmarks, creates red lines on both sides of the road or any area where construction is allowed, we put up ropes to do that, ensuring the correct area, boundary, and landmarks of the assigned area. Minimize the impact on the natural landscape of the forest, meaning keeping the forest intact, absolutely not encroaching on the forest trees. Therefore, when the project is completed, the forest's status quo is still intact, enhancing the natural beauty of the relic site", Mr. Cham shared more after the project was completed, leaving a good impression on visitors.
The Provincial Party Committee base relic site has such a unique beauty. And more than that, this place not only has a high educational significance about the tradition of “remembering the source of water when drinking water”, but also educates the younger generation about protecting forests and nature.
