Two Finnish women told police they were in their hotel room when three men burst in and tried to rape them.
Belinskii, who happened to be passing by the room, witnessed the incident and tried to stop the three men from carrying out the act, but they then turned on him and attacked him before fleeing the scene, the female tourist said.
They alleged that on the morning of the incident, the men followed them around the Patong beach area and then went to the hotel, according to Russian news agency RIA.
After police investigated the incident, they went to Lacaza Hotel on Rat-U-Thit 200 Pi Road in Patong, where the suspects were staying.

The suspects were identified as Aksu Cemre Can, 30, Aksu Ali Cem, 22, and Yanyana Salman, 23. During questioning, all three admitted to the fight. However, they said they were only returning to their hotel with a Finnish woman after a night out when the Russian man, who claimed to be her boyfriend, confronted them.
Initially, Thai media reported that Israeli citizens were involved in the attempted gang rape in Thailand. However, it was later revised to say that the incident involved two German citizens and a Turkish citizen.
