Timor Leste in thrilling score chase with Myanmar

On the evening of July 16, the match between U.23 Myanmar and U.23 Timor Leste in Group C of the 2025 Southeast Asian U.23 tournament seemed to be a one-sided match but turned out to be very exciting. U.23 Myanmar was rated higher and proved it by taking a 2-goal lead after 40 minutes of play, thanks to goals from Wanna Aung Shine (minute 13) and Win Thein Zaw (minute 40, penalty).

In the 53rd minute, Luis Figo ran smartly and jumped high to make a dangerous header to bring the match back to the starting line, rekindling hope of finding a point for Timor Leste.

On July 16, the first matches of Group B and Group C took place. In Group B, there was a clash between U.23 Laos and U.23 Cambodia. Since Group B only had 3 teams, U.23 Vietnam was allowed to rest in the opening match of the group stage of the 2025 Southeast Asian U.23 tournament.

In the match that took place on the afternoon of July 16, U.23 Laos and U.23 Cambodia drew 1-1. These two teams each had 1 point and shared the first and second positions in Group B. The U.23 Vietnam team was temporarily pushed to the bottom of Group B with no points.

Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will play their opening match of the regional tournament against U.23 Laos at 5:00 p.m. on July 19.
