*Pig price in the Northern region

In the Northern market, the purchase price of live pigs increased by 1,000 VND/kg in the provinces of Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi and Tuyen Quang, currently at a common level of 66,000 VND/kg.

The remaining provinces and cities recorded no new fluctuations compared to last weekend.

Today's live pig price in the North is around 64,000 - 66,000 VND/kg.

*Pig price in the Central market

According to records, pork prices in the Central and Central Highlands regions decreased by 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg.

In particular, live pigs in Thua Thien Hue, Quang Ngai, Ninh Thuan all decreased by 1,000 VND/kg to 62,000 VND/kg. This is also the purchase price recorded in Binh Thuan province after decreasing by 2,000 VND/kg.

Traders in Khanh Hoa are trading live pigs at 61,000 VND/kg, down 1,000 VND/kg.

Quang Tri and Dak Lak provinces both reduced by VND2,000/kg to VND61,000/kg.

Currently, the price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 61,000 - 64,000 VND/kg.

*Price of live pigs in the Southern market

Live pig trading prices in the Southern region decreased in many provinces and cities last week.

Currently, after a reduction of 1,000 VND/kg, traders in Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Vung Tau, Long An, Dong Thap, Kien Giang, Tien Giang, Ben Tre and Soc Trang are purchasing live pigs at prices ranging from 62,000 - 64,000 VND/kg.

Live pigs in Vinh Long and An Giang are being traded at VND61,000/kg and VND63,000/kg respectively, down VND2,000/kg.

In the Southern region today, the purchase price fluctuates between 61,000 - 64,000 VND/kg.

* Mr. Nguyen Tri Cong, Chairman of the Dong Nai Province Livestock Association, said that Dong Nai is the livestock capital of the country. Every day, this locality supplies the market of Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces such as Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Ba Ria-Vung Tau... 120,000 tons of pork and poultry.

According to Mr. Cong, the livestock industry has controlled other diseases very well, but African swine fever is a very complicated problem and the livestock industry has not yet controlled this disease tightly. Although Vietnam has successfully produced a vaccine against African swine fever, when used, the results are still not as expected.

On the afternoon of August 9, Mr. Phan Duy Anh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Vang district, said that the authorities are still destroying sick, suspected sick, and dead pigs according to the instructions of professional agencies.

Accordingly, so far, the authorities have discovered outbreaks of African swine fever in Duong Lam 2 village, Khuong My (Hoa Phong commune), Nam village and An Son village (Hoa Ninh commune). An Son village (Hoa Ninh commune) is the new village where the disease broke out on August 9, according to information from Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper.

To date, the authorities have destroyed 44 sick or suspected sick pigs from 4 households. The total weight destroyed was 1,336 kg. It is expected that the authorities will destroy the pigs showing symptoms of the disease (not eating, fever, lethargy) at a household in An Son village on August 10 according to regulations.

In the last 6 months of the year, there is a possibility that epidemics may occur. If the developments are complicated, it will affect the production activities of households and businesses.
