100 million VND reward for students who won gold medals at the International Olympiad in Informatics

On August 11, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province held a meeting to honor Le Kien Thanh, a student of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, for winning a gold medal at the 2025 International Olympiad in Informatics in Bolivia.

At the meeting, Mr. Lam Hai Giang, Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, awarded 100 million VND to Le Kien Thanh for this outstanding achievement.

According to Mr. Lam Hai Giang, Le Kien Thanh's achievements are a testament to Vietnamese intelligence and the aspirations of Gia Lai youth to reach far.

Mr. Giang said the province will continue to create conditions to discover, nurture and develop talents, especially in the fields of science , technology and innovation.

Le Kien Thanh said he was very touched when the provincial leaders organized a meeting. At the same time, he thanked the provincial leaders, the Department of Education and Training and the school for their help and creating favorable conditions throughout the learning and exam process.

According to Thanh, the journey to the gold medal at the 2025 International Olympiad in Informatics in Bolivia is full of hours of hard training, perseverance, and high concentration.

The biggest challenge when coming to Bolivia was the time zone difference and the harsh cold that caused insomnia and fatigue. However, thanks to careful preparation and a strong mentality, Thanh and his Vietnamese teammates quickly adapted before the competition. Thanh hopes that this medal will inspire other young people to dare to dream and devote themselves to their passion.

Mr. Huynh Le Minh, principal of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, said that Le Kien Thanh has an impressive record of academic achievements. Thanh was once the top 15 student in the national team participating in the Asia-Pacific Olympiad in Informatics and won a silver medal.

He continued to lead among 4 students representing Vietnam to attend the international competition held in Bolivia at the end of July 2025. He won many high prizes in provincial and national competitions for excellent students.
