According to VietNamNet, since early this afternoon (September 12), the Chieu Bach River has flooded National Highway 1A, through Yen Duong and Ha Binh communes (Ha Trung district). By late afternoon, the water level had risen half a meter above the road surface, and authorities had to work hard to regulate traffic.

Mr. Pham Trac Cuong, Captain of the Traffic Police Team of Ha Trung district, said that the flooded area is located in Ha Binh and Yen Duong communes, including 4 points (each point is about 150-200m long), the route is about 2.5km long, with an average depth of 30-50cm.

To ensure traffic safety on the route, Thanh Hoa provincial authorities have put up danger warning signs and assigned forces to be on duty 24/7 at flooded areas, to direct and regulate traffic.

“In the immediate future, motorbikes and 4-seat cars will be guided to enter residential roads, while other vehicles can still pass normally. If the river water rises higher tonight, we will take measures to divert traffic from a distance to ensure the safety of vehicles passing through,” said Mr. Cuong.
