In the self-recorded video, a British tourist named Sean arrives at Thung Nham tourist attraction, Hoa Lu, Ninh Binh. The security guard guides Sean to park his motorbike in the right place because he wants to park in the car area. However, after parking, he starts swearing and insulting the security guard.

Foreign man insulting staff at a tourist area in Ninh Binh

"You got nothing better to do. I hope your family got shoot in the Vietnam war. I hope napalm stuck to your children…".

The security guard seemed not to understand the insulting language and could only reply "no". The foreign man then asked him how many children he had and without stopping, he added: "Check your children to see if they have been exposed to napalm".

The next scene shows the security guard collecting 10,000 VND from a customer for parking and discussing the change. The video was posted on Sean's personal YouTube page but has now been hidden after receiving strong reactions from many people in the comments. The clip of Sean "poisonously" cursing the security guard is still on social media.

On Tiktok, an account named @throttlethunder, a British person, reposted the above video and said that the authorities of Ninh Binh province should track down this man and clarify the reason why he insulted Vietnamese people like that. "Please post his name everywhere. I'm British and we don't all think like him. Insulting other people's children is bad but what he said is worse. Hopefully he will be deported from Vietnam...", this account wrote.

Anh Dao Chi Doan, who lives in the UK, said he saw the video because some friends in the UK sent it to him and was also extremely angry. "I can't imagine a British tourist coming to Vietnam using these words to talk. In addition, in other videos posted on his personal page, he often uses other vulgar and contemptuous words. He often makes comments or insults to local people because most of them don't know English," he said indignantly.

Many of Sean's videos are still on the Sean King YouTube channel, including recently posted videos of Tam Coc, Ninh Binh...

The increasing number of foreigners traveling to Vietnam and filming and taking photos to promote the destination on social media has contributed positively to the destination. However, tourism expert Nguyen Duc Chi said that the case of the foreign man named Sean who filmed videos about the destination but used many provocative and insulting words should be stopped.

"The content he conveyed gave a negative view of the destination. The words he used to speak to the security guard in the video were not just simple vulgar words, they also rekindled the pain of war. I think it is a serious problem and the management agency needs to get involved," Mr. Chi emphasized.

In January 2018, Facebook account Daniel Hauer - a famous English teacher in Vietnam on social networks, caused a stir when he made vulgar comments about the Vietnam U.23 team and the late General Vo Nguyen Giap.

After receiving backlash from the online community, on his personal Facebook page, Daniel Hauer "explained and apologized". However, many people did not accept this apology because they thought it lacked sincerity.

The Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (Ministry of Information and Communications) then invited Daniel Hauer to work. Explaining to the Department, Dan said he was very sorry for this action and asked to remedy the consequences in 3 ways: remove all similar wrong comments, commit to never repeat the offense; go to the house of General Vo Nguyen Giap to burn incense and apologize...
