Turkey's Interior Ministry confirmed the explosion was a "terrorist attack", injuring two police officers.

The ministry's announcement said: "Two terrorists arrived at the scene in a light military vehicle at around 9:30 a.m. local time (1:30 p.m. Hanoi time), in front of the entrance to the General Department of Security under our Ministry (of the Interior) and carried out a bombing."

Meanwhile, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed that one attacker detonated a suicide bomb, while the other was killed in a gunfight with police.

Earlier the same day, local media reported a large explosion in the center of the Turkish capital Ankara, followed by a series of gunshots.

According to plan, the Turkish Parliament will resume operations on October 1 after this year's summer break.
