Contractors are speeding up construction to complete all nine pedestrian bridges connecting the elevated stations of the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien urban railway line No. 1 in Ho Chi Minh City by next September.

Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) has a total length of 19.7km with 11 elevated stations. Of which, 9 stations (from Tan Cang station to National University station) have additional pedestrian bridges connecting with bus stops and residential areas on both sides of Hanoi Highway and Vo Nguyen Giap Street. Each pedestrian bridge is about 80-150m long (depending on location). This is also the main escape route in case of an emergency. In the picture is the pedestrian bridge connecting to An Phu station. Currently, the architectural works of 6/9 pedestrian bridges (Tan Cang, An Phu, Rach Chiec, Phuoc Long, Binh Thai, High-Tech Park) have been basically completed. The High-Tech Park 9 Station Pedestrian Bridge is the first pedestrian bridge to be built and has completed its architecture, electromechanics, etc. since last April. The walkway on the bridge is about 3.5m wide, with a clearance (height from the ground to the bridge surface) of nearly 5m, and has a steel roof. Along both sides of the bridge, there are flower beds, trees, and natural ventilation. The pedestrian bridges are designed in harmony with the surrounding landscape and the architecture of the elevated station. The steel arch architecture of the pedestrian bridges creates a highlight for the entire metro line. Thu Duc Station is being actively constructed by contractors, including the pedestrian bridge. National University Station is an area with high traffic volume due to its proximity to schools and bus stations, convenient for traveling to other provinces... Image at Thao Dien station. This is the most difficult and disadvantageous location for the project's beam placement work because it is located under the 110kV high voltage power line, near the foot of Saigon bridge, with complicated traffic and high traffic speed (80km/h)... At Thao Dien station pedestrian bridge area, the basic load-bearing structure has been completed, workers are preparing to install the roof. It is expected that all 9 pedestrian bridges connecting the stations of Metro Line 1 will be completed by next September. Of these, 2 pedestrian bridges will be the last to be completed at Thu Duc Station and National University Station.
