Kindergarten staff post fake job ads to lure candidates

Recently, Joyful World International Kindergarten announced the termination of the labor contract with a male employee, after discovering that he had posted false recruitment information on a job brokerage platform.

This action of the male employee was for personal purposes. The school's leadership affirmed that it does not accept the above behavior.

Previously, a female candidate informed the school about the incident, after discovering unusual signs during the interview process at a headquarters of the kindergarten system. The girl was invited by a male employee surnamed Chan to the headquarters located in Sha Tin district, this is one of the five headquarters of the Joyful World school system.

She wants to apply for a part-time childcare assistant position. The job posting requires applicants to be between 16 and 25 years old and the hourly wage is HK$90/hour (equivalent to VND300,000).

However, instead of being asked to submit their application through the school's official email system, the recruitment notice asked candidates to contact them via their personal phone number to receive detailed instructions.

After arriving at the kindergarten for the interview, the male receptionist said he had forgotten to ask her some necessary questions, so he offered to take her to the subway station to ask more questions. However, on the way, he began asking her personal and somewhat sensitive questions.

Later, through text messages, the man offered to hire her as a “personal assistant”, but the girl refused and insisted that she only wanted to take care of children.

When she asked if she had a chance of getting the job, the man replied: “I don’t think so,” despite previously complimenting her on her good interview.

After the contacts revealed many unusual signs, the girl decided to report the incident to the school. In the school’s official announcement, the school’s leadership said they were shocked and disappointed by the male employee’s behavior. The school also sent a sincere apology to those affected.

After terminating the contract with the male employee, the school reported the incident to the police. A spokesperson for the Hong Kong Education Bureau (China) said that the unit contacted the leadership of the Joyful World school system immediately after receiving the information, requesting the school to take measures to thoroughly handle and correct the situation.

“The Hong Kong Education Bureau has seriously reminded the management board of Joyful World International Kindergarten, requiring the school to tighten management and be careful in recruiting and managing personnel, including teachers and administrative staff.”
