According to kumquat growers in Cam Ha commune (Hoi An city), the price of kumquat this year remains the same as in 2024, currently ranging from 500,000 VND to several million VND per tree, depending on the size of the kumquat. Currently, the gardeners have been confirmed to buy by traders, so now they are taking care of the trees and waiting for the day to be transported by truck.

Mr. Nguyen Mot, in Cam Ha commune, said that this year, his family planted more than 200 kumquat pots, with many sizes, and he has now sold them for prices ranging from several hundred thousand dong to 7 million dong per pot, depending on the size. They have given him the money, so now he has to take good care of the trees so that they retain their beauty when they are handed over to the traders to take away. According to Mr. Mot, if he sells all 200 kumquat pots, after deducting expenses, his family will make a profit of more than 100 million dong.

Mr. Nguyen Van Mat, in Cam Ha commune, shared: “This year, the quality of kumquat is relatively good. My family has more than 300 kumquat trees, of all sizes from small to large. Local people expect that from now until Tet, the weather will be favorable for kumquats and other flowers to grow well to serve the Lunar New Year market this year.”

Mr. Nguyen Viet Hai, in Thanh Ha ward (Hoi An city) said that every day, people who grow kumquat and other flowers go to the garden early in the morning to water, prune and take care of the trees. This year, Mr. Hai planted about 500 large and small kumquat pots. Traders have ordered more than 60% of the kumquat pots in his garden. The criteria for expensive kumquat pots are large, round, beautiful fruit, and buds during Tet. His bonsai kumquat trees have many types, with prices ranging from 500,000 VND to over 5 million VND per pot. Large trees with beautiful shapes cost tens of millions of VND, mini kumquats cost 70 - 150 thousand VND per pot.

Many kumquat growers said that this year the weather is quite favorable, the kumquat trees grow evenly, the fruit is big, the leaves are beautiful. But to do that, you have to take good care of them from watering and fertilizing to ensure the quality of the kumquat trees.

On January 2, we observed that many kumquat gardeners in Hoi An City were busy taking care of, watering, and pruning the leaves of the kumquat pots. Meanwhile, many traders from Quang Ngai Province, Da Nang City, and the Central Highlands provinces came to the kumquat gardens of households to deposit money to buy kumquats to prepare to transport them back to sell during the Lunar New Year 2025.

Mr. Mai Thanh Hung - Vice Chairman of Cam Ha Commune People's Committee said: "This year, the whole commune has about 350 households growing kumquat trees to sell on the occasion of the Lunar New Year At Ty 2025, with a quantity of about 71,000 kumquat pots of all kinds. Up to this point, kumquat gardeners have been asked to buy by traders who have deposited more than 70%. It is expected that if all the kumquat pots are sold on the market during the Lunar New Year this year, local people will earn more than 42 billion VND".

“This year, the price of kumquat trees remains at an average level, not increasing compared to last year, fluctuating from 500,000 VND to several million VND per pot. It is expected that on January 9, 2025, the Hoi An City government will organize a kumquat festival to attract more tourists and traders to the locality,” said Mr. Mai Thanh Hung.

According to Mr. Nguyen The Hung - Vice Chairman of Hoi An City People's Committee, this year the whole city has more than 100,000 kumquat pots of all kinds, mainly concentrated in Cam Ha commune and Thanh Ha ward. Currently, kumquat gardeners in the city have been asked to buy and deposit money by traders. In general, prices this year are the same as previous years.
