Successfully growing the Ha Den grape variety - one of the 3-star OCOP products with a distinctive flavor and outstanding quality, Lam Thao Agricultural Cooperative has continued to inspire creativity by developing more grape-processed products, increasingly affirming its position in the market thanks to its quality and safe production process, bringing new, rich flavors from the homeland.

Mr. Nguyen Van Ha - Director of Lam Thao Agricultural Cooperative said: Along with Ha Den grape products, in 2024, Lam Thao grape wine products were recognized as 3-star OCOP products. The market for the cooperative's products is mainly at convenience stores and restaurants in the province and some neighboring provinces.

In addition, the Cooperative has built a sales channel on social networking platforms such as Zalo, Facebook... This is a production model that helps build the value and brand of local agricultural products, while increasing income and improving the lives of Cooperative members and local people.

Along with linking and consuming products, the OCOP program has helped entities self-assess and re-evaluate the quality of their products, thereby finding solutions to improve product quality, pay more attention to improving designs, food safety, controlling codes, barcodes, traceability... creating a legal corridor when participating in chains, supermarkets and expanding the consumption market, increasing revenue, ensuring sustainable development.

In recent times, along with promoting propaganda work, Lam Thao district has continued to coordinate in integrating and mobilizing priority resources to support the development of key and typical products participating in the program; strengthening training, fostering, and coaching on professional knowledge of program management and OCOP products; knowledge of production and business management for entities; organizing annual evaluation and classification of OCOP products; strengthening the inspection and supervision of product quality of entities and OCOP products after being recognized; promoting promotional activities, trade promotion, connecting supply and demand of OCOP products...

At the same time, the district has integrated funding from many programs, projects and local budgets to support OCOP products that meet 3-star standards or higher. Thanks to that, the products have been effective, have consumption in the market, and become a driving force for economic development in rural areas.

Typically, in 2024, the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center coordinated with the District Agricultural Extension Station, Tien Kien Commune People's Committee, Tien Kien Agricultural and Electricity Service Cooperative to implement the model: Linking production and consumption of high-quality honey products associated with the OCOP program for beekeeping households of Tien Kien Commune Beekeeping Cooperative to participate with a scale of 350 bee colonies, honey harvest output of over 3,000 liters.

The model was supported by the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center with a part of the cost to buy a machine to separate honey, sugar, and pollen as supplementary food for the bee colony. After 8 months of implementation, the separated honey has a 20-30% higher quality, longer shelf life, and a selling price increase of about 30% compared to regular honey.

In total, for the entire model implementation cycle, households earned over 400 million VND from selling honey. In 2024, honey from the Tien Kien Commune Beekeeping Cooperative was one of 12 products participating in the evaluation of 3-star OCOP products of the district.

Mr. Le Xuan Duong - one of the members of the Cooperative Group shared: "Joining the cooperative group, we are supported in terms of technology, raising and caring for the best quality honey, ensuring both quantity and quality of the herds. At the same time, the product is classified as OCOP, helping the product gain a foothold in the market, easy to consume, and trusted and supported by customers".

By 2025, Lam Thao district strives to develop and standardize at least 6 more OCOP products with 3-star rating or higher; develop at least 1 new entity, namely cooperative, cooperative group, individual production and business establishment, and household, to participate in the standardization of OCOP products; develop 1-2 more OCOP product value chains with regular, stable supply output and economic efficiency.

It can be said that the implementation of the OCOP program has created conditions for localities to produce many high-quality goods with regional characteristics and advantages, contributing to the development of the rural economy.

However, for a product to be certified as OCOP, it requires not only the participation of State management agencies but also the efforts, flexibility and creativity of production entities, while promoting trade promotion activities, product advertising, connecting consumer markets in many forms, so that the development of OCOP products is not only completed in terms of quantity but also ensures the goals, effectiveness and meaning of the program.
