Vietnam is one of the countries in the region that has early access to green growth models. However, like many other countries in the world, Vietnam is also facing the difficult problem of the inclusiveness of the green transition.
At the "Vietnam National Forum on Sustainable Development 2023" held today (November 30), Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Trong Nguyen - Director of the Academy of Policy and Development - said: "Practice shows that green transition is uneven among countries. Even within a country, green transition is uneven among localities, business sectors and people."
Regarding the business sector, according to Mr. Tran Trong Nguyen, domestic enterprises face many difficulties in implementing green growth goals due to limitations in experience, capital and technology. Therefore, many enterprises, especially small and medium enterprises, are left behind in the process of implementing sustainable development goals.
More specifically, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Duy Dong said that small and medium enterprises have limited ability to invest in green technology, low awareness of environmental and resource issues, low access to knowledge and finance...
According to Mr. Vu Tien Loc - National Assembly Delegate - only about 57% of small and medium enterprises are aware that digital transformation and green transformation are necessary. In addition, 98% of them have difficulty in green transformation. Many businesses say that green transformation seems to be a luxury. The transformation is more like a moral call than a commercial and economic issue.
"Many small and medium-sized enterprises say "plowing" first, then talking about "green" later. This is a real problem for many enterprises. Perhaps the awareness revolution should be implemented in enterprises. Currently, green transformation is not a choice but a unique path, a matter of survival for all enterprises, including small and medium-sized and micro enterprises.
The issue of green transformation is not only for large enterprises but also for small, micro and family businesses. This is an inevitable requirement, like a green passport, a green certificate for us to enter the world market. At the same time, access to the global supply chain, participate in the production network. The awareness of small and medium enterprises needs to make more efforts to understand the importance and necessity of green transformation for them" - Mr. Vu Tien Loc added.
