Vietnam Airlines officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on enhancing cooperation to connect and develop aviation between Vietnam Airlines Corporation and the Hong Kong Airport Authority (HKIA).
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang and Mr. Lee Ka-Chiu, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (China), witnessed the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding and congratulated the relevant units. This Memorandum of Understanding continues to mark an important milestone in cooperation, contributing to further promoting economic, trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Hong Kong (China). According to the Memorandum of Understanding, the two sides made many commitments in their efforts towards the common goal of developing air routes. Specifically, the two sides will cooperate to open new routes, increase frequencies, and supplement supply capacity to promote trade and tourism. The two sides will also study the establishment of strategic cooperation relationships, stimulate tourism to develop passenger and cargo transport, strengthen the competitiveness of airports and enhance the effectiveness of aviation treaties. Vietnam Airlines and HKIA will coordinate to improve the quality of operations and services by seeking new cooperation opportunities and new forms to maximize the benefits of both sides. At the same time, the two parties will work together to share practical experience, new initiatives and advanced technologies to optimize operational efficiency. Through this cooperation, the parties aim to achieve world-class standards in passenger experience and cargo logistics, while continuously promoting a culture of continuous improvement. In addition, the two parties will jointly aim for sustainable development in the aviation sector through solutions such as optimizing fuel efficiency, minimizing waste and promoting the use of renewable energy. In particular, the two parties will jointly support talent development through training courses provided by the Hong Kong International Aviation Academy (HKIAA) in the fields of air transport management, aviation security, crisis management, air traffic control, flight training and aircraft engineering. HKIAA can provide scholarships for outstanding individuals, thereby nurturing talent and contributing to the training of high-quality personnel for the aviation industry.![]() |

Vietnam Airlines began operating the Vietnam-Hong Kong (China) route in November 1991. Over the past 33 years, the airline has served more than 5.7 million passengers on more than 46,000 flights to and from Hong Kong International Airport (China), helping to promote economic-trade, investment and tourism cooperation between Vietnam and Hong Kong (China).
