The provincial Border Guard is assigned to manage and protect over 258.9km of border with 5 border gates, 1 opening, Hoa Luu border gate is an international border gate.
According to Nhan Dan Newspaper, at the working session with the border guards, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Anh Duc, Deputy Commander of the Dong Nai Provincial Military Command, and Commander of the Dong Nai Provincial Border Guard Command, said that since the beginning of the year, the forces on the border line have always maintained strict combat readiness, protected the border and the area; done well in mass mobilization work and helped people eliminate hunger, reduce poverty, and eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. At the same time, they have coordinated with forces from Cambodia to patrol and protect the border, prevent and combat crimes, etc.

Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc acknowledged and commended the results that the provincial border guards have achieved in the recent past, especially in coordinating with other forces to protect border security and national sovereignty . Comrade Vo Tan Dung suggested that in the new situation, the border guards should continue to direct, organize, thoroughly grasp and seriously implement the instructions of superiors on the task of managing and protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security.
Leaders comprehensively and synchronously implement border work measures, organize border protection management according to administrative units after the merger, scope, and protect national land borders according to the assignment of the Border Guard Command; closely coordinate with staff forces to promptly and effectively handle situations and incidents, avoiding passive and unexpected situations.

Currently, the border area's infrastructure is still weak, lacking and unsynchronized. Therefore, Comrade Vo Tan Duc requested departments and branches to increase investment resources for the border to be worthy. So that the border area becomes increasingly rich, beautiful and modern, becoming the foreign face of the country and Dong Nai province.
Although the border communes of Dong Nai have a large number of ethnic minorities, the proportion of well-off and rich households is now high. In particular, the work of hunger eradication and poverty reduction has been focused on, so the 8 border communes have only 259 poor households and about 350 near-poor households.
