Chairman Luong Cuong welcomed General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping at Noi Bai airport

At noon on April 14, the plane carrying General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping landed at Noi Bai airport, beginning a two-day state visit to Vietnam on April 14 and 15.

Noi Bai Airport is bright red with the colors of the Party flag and the national flags of Vietnam and China, along with the sound of festive drums, ready to welcome General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping until noon on April 14.

President Luong Cuong personally went to the airport and presided over the welcoming ceremony for General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping. This was the first time the two leaders met in Vietnam as heads of state of Vietnam and China.

Also welcoming General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping at Noi Bai airport were Mr. Tran Cam Tu, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Standing member of the Secretariat; Mr. Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office; Mr. Tran Sy Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee.

Also present were Mr. Nguyen Minh Vu, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Mr. Pham Thanh Binh, Vietnamese Ambassador to China, and leaders of the Office of the President.

200 students from the People's Police Academy's drum troupe and 54 young women dressed in Vietnamese ethnic costumes also participated in welcoming the Chinese leader at the airport, adding to the solemn atmosphere.

Amidst the sound of the welcoming drums, President Luong Cuong and General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping expressed their joy at meeting each other again. The Chinese leader accepted the bouquet of flowers and shook hands with the Vietnamese and Chinese delegates who came to greet him.

The two leaders then walked together on the red carpet to where the car stopped. This is the fourth state visit of a Chinese leader to Vietnam, the second during Xi Jinping's term after the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

VNA reported that joining Xi Jinping's delegation this time were many members of the Standing Committee and Politburo of China, along with a number of heads of central Chinese ministries, departments and agencies.

Specifically, there are: Mr. Thai Ky, member of the Politburo Standing Committee, Secretary of the Secretariat, Chief of the Central Office; Mr. Wang Yi, member of the Politburo, Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Wang Xiaohong, Secretary of the Secretariat, State Councilor, Minister of Public Security; Mr. Liu Jianchao, member of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Foreign Liaison Department;

Also present were Mr. Dong Jun - member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of National Defense; Mr. Trinh San Khiet - member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission; Mr. Vuong Van Dao - member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Commerce.

Mr. Duong Phuong Du - Deputy Director of the Central Policy Research Office; Mr. Ha Vi, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam; Mr. Ton Ve Dong - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Mr. La Chieu Huy - Director of the Department of International Development Cooperation - also joined the delegation.

"During the visit, General Secretary and President Xi Jinping is expected to hold high-level talks with General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong, and meet with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to discuss major measures, directions and orientations to promote bilateral relations in various fields.

In addition, General Secretary and President Xi Jinping will also participate in a number of other important foreign affairs activities," Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son informed about Xi Jinping's activities.

Since the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership framework in 2008, especially after historic visits, Vietnam-China bilateral relations have developed positively.

Notably, the two sides agreed to continue to deepen and further enhance the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, building a "Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of Strategic Significance" in the direction of "6 more".
