According to the conclusion of the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Education and Training on May 8, IDP Vietnam Education Company Limited (IDP) issued 56,230 IELTS certificates in violation of regulations in 2022. Because, from November 17, 2022, the Ministry of Education and Training has just allowed IDP to jointly organize exams and issue certificates, but before that, this unit had organized 555 exams in more than 30 provinces and cities in Vietnam. According to regulations, incorrectly issued certificates will not be valid for high school graduation or university admission. This information makes many candidates confused about whether it will affect their consideration for exemption from the upcoming high school graduation exam, university admission, or previous university admission and graduation results.

Regarding the above information, Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, Head of Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, said that the school is conducting statistics to see how many certificates were used for admission and graduation at the school during the above period.

"Basically, it does not affect much the certificates used for university admission in 2024 because most schools accept certificates that are still valid until the admission time at the end of August this year, while the certificates are only valid for 2 years," Dr. Nhan commented.

Regarding the handling method, the representative of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry said that it will continue to accept IELTS certificates with the early admission method as announced by the school, the handling will wait for the instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Similarly, Master Tran Le Trong Phuc, Deputy Head of Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City Open University, also said that the school is accepting early admission applications. In particular, method 2 considers excellent high school students, giving priority to candidates with international foreign language certificates valid for 2 years, in which IELTS scores from 6.0 - 6.5 or higher depending on the major. Method 3 prioritizes admission based on high school academic results with foreign language certificates from 5.5-6.0 depending on the major.

"The school announced that it will accept applications for these methods from April 15 to June 31. Currently, the school will continue to accept applications as usual, waiting for instructions from the Ministry of Education and Training to announce the admission results early at the end of June," said Master Phuc.

Meanwhile, this morning, May 9, IDP Vietnam officially spoke out about the case of illegally issuing 56,230 IELTS certificates in 2022, which is causing a stir in public opinion. The announcement was posted on the official fanpage and website, less than a day after the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Education and Training concluded that this unit had colluded to organize exams and illegally issue certificates in more than 30 provinces and cities in Vietnam.

According to IDP, the validity of IELTS certificates in 2022 is attracting the attention of many candidates. Regarding this issue, IDP affirmed: "Certificates issued during this period are still recognized by more than 12,000 organizations worldwide".
