On May 24, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung chaired the ceremony to announce and hand over decisions on personnel work at the Department of Information Technology and Communications Industry (ICT Industry) and the Multimedia Communications Corporation - VTC. The ceremony was also attended by Deputy Ministers of Information and Communications Pham Duc Long, Nguyen Thanh Lam and Bui Hoang Phuong.
According to decisions 838 and 839 signed and issued on May 22, Mr. Chu Tien Dat, member of the Board of Members (BOD), in charge of the BOD of VTC Corporation, was appointed as Chairman of the BOD of VTC Corporation. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Bao, acting General Director of VTC Corporation, was appointed as member of the BOD of this corporation.
The Ministry of Information and Communications also decided to extend the term of office of leadership and management for Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tuyen, Deputy Director of the Department of ICT Industry from May 18, 2024 until Mr. Tuyen reaches retirement age according to regulations.
Deputy Director of the Department of ICT Industry Nguyen Thanh Tuyen, born in 1964, has worked continuously in the field of IT for nearly 40 years, from researching, building and operating the first IT system of the Ministry of Health to moving to IT management and in recent years to IT industry management.
Mr. Chu Tien Dat returned to the "roof" of VTC Corporation as a member in charge of operating the Board of Directors of the Corporation from April 2023, when this unit was facing many difficulties. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Bao has 23 years of experience in the IT&T industry, has been with VTC since 2006 and has been assigned to take on the position of Acting General Director of VTC for over 3 years. Under the leadership of young staff, VTC's operations have stabilized, completed the set goals and plans, and are ready with resources to deploy new development spaces.
On behalf of the Executive Committee and leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung wished the three newly-awarded officials new vitality and new spirit to continue fighting in the coming time.
Commenting that the period before retirement is the time for officials to do what they like and feel they need to do, the Minister said that in the next 15 months, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tuyen can still contribute a lot to the Department of ICT Industry, the Ministry of Information and Communications and the country.
Reminding two key officials of VTC about their responsibilities in the coming time, the Minister affirmed that the Ministry's leaders did not assign the task of maintaining the Corporation so that it could "live off others". If VTC wants to be glorious again and show signs of breakthrough from now until 2025, the Corporation's leadership needs to have a different way of thinking and doing.
According to the Minister, if we want to break through, we need to change our perspective, but still use our strengths. In the case of VTC, if we continue to make the games we have made before, we will not be able to compete; but if we use our experience and the game making team to bring game technology into the field of training and making educational games, the Corporation can succeed.
Recounting the process of finding and inviting the two current young leaders of VTC, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung wants not only the Chairman and Acting General Director of VTC but also all leaders at the head level of agencies and units in the Ministry, especially the personnel team, to change their way of working, not waiting for talented people to come to them, but proactively seeking and inviting talented people to their organizations. "One of the main jobs of a leader is to seek and invite talented people to their units," the Minister emphasized.
The Minister also suggested that heads of units in the Ministry expand their scope and space when searching for talented and suitable people for their organizations, and at the same time suggest ways to discover potential leaders. That is: Instead of evaluating a person's potential, it is necessary to see if that person is "sleeping" or "awake". If they are "sleeping", meaning they are only operating at 10% capacity, and they reach level 2 or 3 on a scale of 10, then when awakened, activated, and assigned important responsibilities, those people can become excellent leaders.
Upon receiving the assignment, all three officers pledged to continue to make efforts to fulfill the assigned tasks. Expressing gratitude to the Ministry's leadership for their trust and continued responsibility, the Deputy Director of the ICT Industry Department promised to continue to devote himself and contribute to the development of the industry and the training and development of young officers in the next 15 months.
Reporting on the results of work after 1 year of operating the Board of Directors of VTC Corporation and the goals and solutions to focus on in the coming time, VTC Chairman Chu Tien Dat pledged that together with the collective and staff of the Corporation, they would have the highest determination so that VTC would firmly step on a new direction, worthy of previous generations of VTC, write a new history page and contribute new values to future generations.
New member of the Board of Directors of VTC Corporation, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Bao affirmed that in the coming time, he will make efforts to promote the implementation of the digital transformation plan in the Corporation and exceed the annual production and business plan of the enterprise.
In particular, both young leaders of VTC committed to leaving their positions to make way for more suitable people if they failed to complete their assigned tasks.
