26 public schools in Ho Chi Minh City are allowed to collect fees

Ho Chi Minh City sets ceilings for fees and service fees in public schools, in addition to tuition fees.

On July 12, the 10th Ho Chi Minh City People's Council passed a resolution regulating service fees and charges in public educational institutions for the 2023-2024 school year.

This is the first time Ho Chi Minh City has issued a framework for service fees to make public and transparent the revenue and expenditure in schools. Parents will know to monitor and avoid overcharging.

The 26 revenues are divided into 4 main groups: Revenue for after-school educational activities; Revenue for educational activities according to approved projects; Revenue for boarding services; Revenue for individual student support.

The fees are divided into 2 groups. Group 1 is for students in Thu Duc City and districts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, Binh Thanh, Phu Nhuan, Go Vap, Tan Binh, Tan Phu, Binh Tan. Group 2 is for students in Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, Nha Be and Can Gio districts. The fees for group 2 will be lower than group 1. Preschool children and students who are enjoying tuition exemption or reduction policies will not pay service fees.

The fees specified in this resolution are the ceiling. Depending on the actual situation and the needs of the students, the school will agree with the parents on the specific fee level, but it will not exceed the ceiling and will not be 15% higher than the previous school year.

Regarding tuition fees, in the 2022-2023 school year, Ho Chi Minh City will charge a maximum of 300,000 VND per month. Specifically as follows:
